Ever notice how certain weather makes you crave certain food? I asked on my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/WIBWMelissaBrunner) today what favorite cold-weather meals people had. I always think of grilled cheese and either tomato soup or chili! A lot of people responded with soups and stews and chicken and noodles.
Seeing all those wonderful comfort foods also brought to mind a debate sparked by celebrity chef Paula Deen's revelation that she has Type 2 diabetes. Some are criticizing her (and quite harshly) for touting high-fat foods while knowing she developed a condition related to obesity and unhealthy eating. She has responded that she's learned such foods must be enjoyed in moderation and there are lower-fat alternatives for the recipes.
What do you think? Are the critics being unfairly harsh? Or should Paula Deen be renouncing the food that made her famous?
