It's a two-fer Friday in my Blog Zone! If you're up for serious discussion, visit my parks and rec blog. If you want to end the week on a lighter note, chime in on this: Ashton Kutcher will replace Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men.
Replace might not be the right word. It doesn't sound like Kutcher will be taking over Sheen's character. The Hollywood Reporter cites sources who say producer Chuck Lorre will introduce Kutcher in a way that will satisfy the audience and is "really funny."
Hmmm... so let's speculate. Will Alan and Charlie have a long-lost brother? Will Charlie Harper die unexpectedly and have an illegitimate son (Kutcher) show up at his funeral? Or maybe Charlie's known about this son all along and, while Alan is salivating at the thought of inheriting all Charlie's money, Kutcher shows up to collect.... or Alan has to go in search of him.
Of course, all of this might be like Fonz "jumping the shark" in Happy Days. Will audiences accept the show without the Charlie Harper character? However they introduce Kutcher to the show, I hope they don't try to make his character mimic Sheen's. Don't try to pretend it's the same show. Let Kutcher make it his own. Kutcher himself has said he can't replace Sheen - but he'll work to entertain people. Let's see how he does.
