I still feel the swaying as I sit to write this. It's the gentle side-to-side sway of the carriage passing over the joints in the rails as it carries us from the town of Jasper, through the Canadian Rockies into British Columbia and the heart of logging country.
It's definitely a unique way to view the landscape. We seem to be skirting along the edge of ponds and the forest surrounds us. Nearing our overnight stop in Quesnel, we saw evidence of the huge lumber industry in this area. Sawmills dotted the landscape, huge operations with logs and lumbers stacked and ready to ship to its various destinations. The two largest lumber companies in the province, we were told, export $5.2 billion in softwood lumber annually. Amazing!
