OK, pundits - weigh in.
Igniting the political fireworks on Independence Day-eve was news from Alaska that Gov. Sarah Palin would resign later this month. Speculation is running two ways - is she setting up a 2012 Presidential run or is she quitting politics?
Which side to you fall on? If she wants to win the White House, is leaving the Governor's office the way to go about it? If she's quitting politics, do you think she's simply fed up with the microscope under which it's put her family? Judging by the response to the tweet I put out with the news Friday, a lot of you have an opinion on this, so go ahead and share it!
A lot of questions here. Can't wait to find out the answers.

Palin is getting nuttier. If she decides to run for President, I wonder if she will quit that early!! She said she had done all of her issues and needs to leave so these investigations in improper stuff she has done. Well, the FBI said no they weren't so where does that leave her??!! Maybe she will study geography and keep better informed on what magazines she reads. SHE REALLY NEEDS SOME HELP!! Posted by: Susan Location: Topeka Palin just wanted to be back in the news again, and this was the way to do it. Posted by: Patty Location: Kansas I tend to differ. I think she one of the few that stands for she believes in. I don't agree with her 100% but she is on track. I'm supportive of her and wish her well. Posted by: Charles Location: Morris County Good riddance. The GOP can do better than Palin. Posted by: RB Location: TOPEKA NOT SURE WHAT SHE IS TRYING TO DO. SOMETIMES SHE SEENS TO BE RIGHT ON TRACK, BUT OTHER TIMES SHE OFF BASE. TIME WILL TELL??? Posted by: Nannetta Location: Rural Geary County Palin likes drama and seems to enjoy the attention. She always seems to be doing something to stay in the news. I don't know what she is doing but if she did run for president in 2012 I would not vote for her. I don't like her because she make Cruella de Ville look like an angel. She murders innocent baby animals. I don't think she is fed up with politics but her thinking concerns me she is planning another Ruby Ridge or Waco. Maybe, she is bringing another Palin into the world and that is her higher calling she was referring too. Who knows with her. She seems unstable and one step shy of the loony bin. Posted by: SuZQ Location: Topeka Why should she remain in office? She can join the rest of the Republican unemployed on Fox News. She can make a whole lot more money appearing nightly as their darling. I wonder what Dick Morris might have to say now that she is whimpering and quitting? He sure slammed Hillary when she did it. I love the conservative double-talk Posted by: Bob Location: Topeka not sure what is going on here behind the scenes. And what is this about a possible federal investigation ?? Posted by: Steve Location: Kansas Why is it that no one can believe someone would do something to protect their family anymore? Is there more to this, maybe but now she and her family have the right to sue the people that run their mouths with no facts. Only one question left if this is politics as usual why do the American people allow their money to be spent on frivolous lawsuits in these tough economic time. Posted by: Jan Location: Manhattan/Quilter I am glad she is resigning. She doesn't have it takes to be in the White House. Posted by: john Location: topeka Sarah Palin felt her work would fall on deaf ears as a lame duck. I believe she is being primed as a presidental candidate, she has alot to learn yet about the national political stage and would not be able to learn that while running a state (Alaska or anywhere). If the voters embrace the current president for the historical factor, she has a strong chance for a historical vote. The question remains does a woman candidate bring out voters because of gender, history or just plan politics? Posted by: Cheryl Location: NE Kansas When Palin first came on the scene back in October, I really liked her. But the more she speaks, the less I like her. This woman is flighty, narcissistic, and crazy like a fox. What she stands for is good, but the way she delivers her message is so unusual that half the time I can't make heads or tails out of what she just said. She just doesn't have the experience needed to lead this country. She is deserting the people of Alaska midway through her term. She needs to pay more attention to her family and less time in the political arena. I feel she will do more harm than good for the Republican party. I have a feeling though this is not the end of her political career unfortunately. Posted by: Janice Location: Salina Kansas I can see why Sarah would resign. She has been ridiculed and never given the respect she deserves...She does in fact have what it takes to be an excellent leader, the thing she is lacking is dishonesty!! You have to be a crook if you want to be in politics, she is upfront and honest... I as a registered Democrat would vote for Sarah Palin in a heartbeat.. No way in hell could she do any worse than what we have now, what a bunch of nobs we have in Obama and company.... Just the facts!!! Posted by: pat Location: kansas She needs to quit politics! A couple of days ago she's challenging obama to a marathon?! any comment about her or her family she twists and makes a federal case of it, thats part of politics, get used to it. She certainly is no where close to becoming the next president. Just because you have the balls to stand up for what you believe in doen't qualify one for such an office. She needs to just fade out.. Posted by: Andy Location: NE Kansas Hallelujah, the republican party has enough headaches to deal with, without this airhead dragging them down. I know she is widely popular in this neck of the woods because of her views on guns and hunting. That's all well and good, but she has neither the intelligence or the savvy to be a major player. If she was cracking under the pressure of being a VP candidate imagine the implosion if she was the presidential candidate. |
