Packing away Christmas

I know it's mid-January, but remnants to Christmas are still scattered around our home. Extension cords remain strewn about the lawn, the garage is maze of boxes and light strands and I'm finding stray ornaments in odd corners of the living room. It leaves me with the age-old question - where do we put it all? Obviously, it had to come from somewhere! And I did okay with the after-Christmas sales, limiting myself to one adorable lighted penguin! But it might be time to find an alternative to some of the battered cardboard boxes, with their corners ripped out and holes becoming larger. Any advice? Any hidden corners I hadn't considered? Share your tips and I'll offer one thing that has helped us out immensely from year to year - we label where everything went! That way, we're not guessing every year how many strands of which lights it will take to get from point A to point B - makes the setup go so much more quickly! Thank goodness we don't go that crazy with Valentine or Easter decorations!
