Cross A Lot Off My List!!
I didn't get any scrapbooking done over my four-day weekend, but I sure made a big dent in that other huge task that looms this time of year - Christmas shopping! I got an early start. By that, I mean we were standing in line at KMart on Thanksgiving Day at 6:30 am for a 7am opening. Then, yes, my alarm went off at 3:40am Friday! My husband's cousin arrived at our house at 4:15am, and by 4:20am, the three of us were at WalMart. Doug hopped in a line "just to see what it was," while Kelsey and I headed to electronics to see if we could get the item our sister-in-law wanted for our nephew. We were fourth in line - yeah! Kelsey grabbed a couple things that weren't on super-duper special for me while I held the place in line; 5am rolled around; we got the goods; and by 5:07am we were in the car and headed for Wanamaker. We dropped Doug at Home Depot - even it had a line! - while we headed for Office Depot. At 6am, we found out we wouldn't get what we wanted there, so we headed back to Home Depot, where Doug found what he had spotted in the ad - and bragged about the nice manager who let everyone into the entryway to wait when it started raining - or sleeting - or snowing - or whatever it was it started doing! A quick dart into Dick's Sporting Goods, and we decided it was time for breakfast! We swung through Westlake Ace Hardware and the Dollar Tree, and were home by 9am. But the weekend wasn't over! Sunday, I called my sister-in-law, who planned to go shopping herself, so we tackled the task together. Four stores in four hours and we both have the shopping task about polished off! What a great feeling! Oh, I'm sure I'll remember a few other things along the way that I don't have written down, but at least I don't feel the usual pressure of having everything until the last week. And I'm perfectly fine resorting to gift cards for the rest of those on my list who I'm pretty stumped over. I could also mention the three or four other trips to stores that had to do with the outdoor Christmas decorations, but that's for another blog on another day! And then there's the holiday baking list! How about you? What's crossed off your list?
