With no offense to the airlines, I'm glad that eight-hour flight is over and our legs are stretching on Italian soil! Of course, we're grateful - a nice tailwind got us in an hour earlier than expected! On little sleep, 27 of us from Kansas and 13 more from around the country loaded into a motorcoach and began our journey. The weather is beautiful - only around 40 degrees when we landed, but the sun warmed it up nicely. Sunday afternoon found us in a town halfway between Milan and Verona called Sirmione, on beautiful Lago Grada. Here, several of us doled out our euros to climb to the top of the first of what our Italian guide tells us will be several castles we'll encounter along the way, Rocca Scaligera. Enjoy the view!
