I'll admit, I don't know what to think about the economic crisis. I've been listening to the Presidential candidates talk about it, and I listened to the President's comments Friday morning. On the one hand, I hear the point that it would do a whole lot more damage to simply let these major financial institutions fail than it would to simply bail them out. The ripple effect it would have is the sort of thing that leads to a lot of minuses on my retirement account statements. On the other hand, as someone who pays my bills and tries to live within my means, it kinda burns me that my tax dollars will be used to bail out companies that have what has been described as far too many risky decisions while collecting multi-million dollar salaries. While I keep my 1993 Saturn, will they give up their brand new luxury vehicles? Still, I understand it goes beyond just that group of people. A lot of hardworking, everyday folks have fallen on tough times due to circumstances they could not have foreseen or prevented - downsized from their job, a sick child, etc. So, like I said, I'm on the fence. What do you think about the state of the economy? And what solutions would you support?
