I couldn't resist asking your thoughts on this story we ran Monday on our 10pm news - a poll on which people would rather take on vacation - their PDA or their significant other? The study of 6500 traveling executives says 35 % of them would choose their PDA over their spouse! Other findings: 87% of those polled say they bring their devices into the bedroom; 84% check their emails just before they go to sleep; and 80% check them as soon as they get up in the morning. I'm new to the whole "email at your fingertips" thing and am shocked to find a bit of myself in those results. I do turn the phone off and leave it downstairs at night, but I do find myself checking emails a lot more often when I'm awake. If I hear a beep that a new message is received, I can't resist the urge to hit the little button and see who it's from! From a practical standpoint, it does help to clear the clutter out of my inbox a little at a time, rather than being hit with 50 emails to wade through when I arrive at work. However, I see how I am teetering on the edge of obsession. I don't think I'd ever go so far as to choose my super-cool always-in-touch electronic device over my husband, but would you?
