One fun aspect of a fall visit to Wisconsin is seeing my brother's garden. He certainly caught the green thumb from mom when it comes to growing vegetables and flowers. Tucked amid the giant sunflowers and rows of strawberries is his pumpkin patch. Below is a photo of this year's size winner. If you're impressed, you should know this is probably small by his standards. We've tried having him send seeds from some of these giants to replicate the results in our gardens, but it just hasn't worked. No, he doesn't carve these up for jack-o-lanterns, though they do end up in a nice display in his front yard. And I bet each year he calculates just how many pumpkin pies he could get our mom to bake out of each one!
