Sorry - the blog title does not refer to election season or wholesale gutting of a corporate staff. It's just what it says - cleaning the house. That's what I did Friday morning, and I have to admit - I'm a horrible housekeeper. Oh, when I do it, I do a fine job - it's just that I don't do it nearly as often as I should. It's not that you can't walk through our house, and I am pretty fanatic about doing the dishes, it's just that you can usually expect to find dust and pet hair in many places. So I lugged out the super-powered vacuum my husband bought me for Christmas and sucked it up. It looks pretty good, so the way I figure it, we have about a two-day window for people to visit. I try to emulate my mother - when we were kids, every Friday morning we'd help her with a weekly ritual. We'd start at one end of the downstairs and move to the other, dusting and vacuuming, doing a sweep up high for any cobwebs, cleaning the windows. I know what I need to do, it just takes time and I need to make myself do it. Anyone else have this trouble? How do you overcome it? Any hints for making the process go more quickly would be appreciated! And if you plan to visit, give me at least an hour's warning - preferably, a couple days!
