Acting Like a Kid!

Truth be told, I couldn't wait for my early-in-the-day, off-work-hours assignment Thursday. It was my week to read at the "Catch the Summer Reading Bug" program at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library. I spent a few minutes pre-reading the books - colors was the theme - and thinking about how I could involve the children. Inside, I learned I'd have help from Kyler and his guitar, leading the kids through some songs in between books - fantastic! I don't know who has more fun with these reading appearances - me or the kids. There's only one problem - I'm not very good at discipline, so I apologized to the ladies at the desk in the youth area afterward about the "controlled chaos" I had going on! They said not to worry - they thought it sounded fun. Thank goodness! I felt guilty making noise in a library of all places - they said that's perfectly all right during story time! I've included video story time here, and there are pictures under "My Capture" on the page. Remember - Mark Ewing reads July 24 and Jeremy Goodwin reads July 31. Story time is 9:30 am.

Excellent job in the 10K!! What was your time? Are you going to keep entering these types of events in the future? Again, super job!!! :)

RESPONSE: My time was 53.38 - not bad for a first effort! I'll have a blog up about it before the end of the day!
