I thought you might like an update on our newest furry kid, Buddy. Last we saw him, Buddy was stuck in the garage, collar around his neck, recovering from his....shall we just say surgery! Remember this sad scene?
Part of the fun of our nearly four acres is the wildlife we encounter. Of course, that also means none of the run-ins get too rough. The other night, we took the kids out for their final run before bedtime. Buddy, as usual, sprinted out in front down the hill. Before long, we heard him barking. We rushed to find him near the tree where Mrs. Raccoon has had babies the past couple years. But Buddy wasn't paying attention to the tree - he was nosing around the logs we'd cut earlier in the day. We shined the flashlight to see what was causing Buddy so much alarm - the wheelbarrow! It took some coaxing - and a nice, big stick to chew on! - to convince Buddy the wheelbarrow wasn't a threat! The adventures didn't end there. The next day (don't tell Drew!), a turkey popped out to say hello. Luckily, it was on the other side of the fence and quickly scuttled into the brush.

Lucy "smiles" for the camera!
