Capper is Cool!

I've been fortunate enough the past several years to be involved with the Easter Seals Capper Foundation. My first couple visits, I read to the Kidlink preschoolers. Most recently, I helped plan a "thank you" celebration for a special group of donors - those who gave to Capper's Scholarship Assistance Campaign. For those who are unfamiliar with the organization's work, Capper helps children with disabilities live more independent lives. They provide physical, occupational and speech therapy, and help with adaptive equipment so the kids can actively participate in the world around them. But for many families, insurance doesn't cover the complete cost of such services, and it is difficult to afford them on their own. That's where the scholarship program comes in - offering fees on a sliding scale, so that all children can receive services, regardless of the ability to pay. The Scholarship Assistance Campaign raised $2.5 million dollars to meet immediate needs and establish an endowment to help families meet long-term challenges. Despite the success of the campaign, work remains. Capper will continue to need support every day, both financially and in terms of volunteers. If you'd like to learn more about the organization, log on to www.capper.easterseals.com. Meantime, included here is a video we put together for the "Finish Line Celebration," thanks the donors. It introduces you to a sweet five-year old named Jesse, and shares how much Capper has meant to him and his family.
