The crux of my job requires I be a good raconteur. And I bet many KU fans today are a bit acquisitive of K-State's win last night. "Huh?" you ask. Just a couple new words I picked up visiting a web site I heard about on the CBS Early Show. It's www.freerice.com. While you pick up words to expand your vocabulary, you're also helping beat world hunger. The site displays a word and four possible meanings. Click the one you think is right. For every correct answer, you're donating 20 grains of rice. My quick visit added up to 120 grains, and it was addictive, so if I had time, I could have piled on more. Advertisers to the site foot the bill for the donations, and all those little grains are quickly adding up. The rice is distributed through the United Nations World Food Program. Check it out if you get a chance. And by the way - a raconteur is a storyteller and acquisitive means covetous.
