A big thanks to all of you who helped us raise $102,00 toward a new shelter for Helping Hands Humane Society in our first-ever Pledges for Pets telethon Saturday afternoon! It was heartwarming to hear from so many people who care that animals have a safe place to go until they find a home. Many of the volunteers who took your calls expressed the same thought - that people didn't just call in with a pledge, many also shared personal stories of why the cause touched their heart. My husband snapped a few pictures of the action when he had breaks from running the camera. Enjoy!
Ralph and I get ready to start the show, with my shelter pet, Bam Bam! Bam even bowed to the audience (okay, he's actually stretching!). Carol Stubbs and I visit with volunteers.
Volunteers from EDS, Hills, Land Kansas and KS Gas Service manned the phone, while Jennifer was among those sharing her shelter success story!
Trick of the day - keeping animals calm while they waited for their turn in the spotlight! We kept an eye on Lindsay and Bill while they talked at the shelter. Precious took a nap after hours of playing!
This little kitten takes a catnap! Talk about energy - I had to chase him down the hall after he was rested! Carol grabbed a calmer cat for one of our visits. Volunteers from Hills take your calls.
Betty Lou and Randy keep us on track - a tall task with the line of pets we had on hand! Carey of the HHHS Board said he'd wear this cow hat in exchange for a pledge!
Bonnie cuddles her three-legged friend, who was given a second chance by Helping Hands. Carol is keeping that rambunctious kitten under control! Bam Bam needed a place to rest, so I created a star for his dressing room door!
