Whenever we enter a cold snap or flakes fly, I'm often greeted with the comment, "You're from Wisconsin - you're used to this!" The short answer for me is, NO!! One thing I like about winter in Kansas is that when it gets cold, at least you know it will return to tolerable in a few days. Looks like we'll be coping a bit longer this time around, but at least it's not a continual deep freeze from October to April. I even remember having a couple high school track meets in May canceled because of late snows! So as I was silently loathing Mother Nature while taking ten minutes to scrape ice and snow off my vehicle before heading home last night, I tried to remind myself that at least I don't have to do this task nearly as often as I did before I moved here. Of course, the flip side is summer and dealing with the Kansas heat and humidity. Honestly, this northern girl would take the heat over the cold. Sure, in the cold you can just put on a hat, boots and a few extra sweaters with a heavy coat, but it's hard to enjoy yourself when you're bundled up like the Michelin Man! Indoors, I grab a blanket and keep the dog (aka, the Furnace!) cuddled in close. But I still take summer warmth, sweat and all! Which do you prefer? And how do you cope with either? Anyone plug in their car around here?!
