I love pizza! I could eat it every day. Each brand, each restaurant brings its own unique flavor to it, so it's not really like eating the same thing meal after meal. Plus, I rationalize that it's a great way to get servings of dairy, vegetable, grain and meat all in one dose.
So I didn't appreciate coming across a Yahoo! Health article Tuesday. It runs down the 7 Worst Pizzas in America. Great! The food police ruined fettuccine alfredo for me, took out fast food fries and now they want me to put down my slice of extra-cheese heaven?! Should I really be concerned that one restaurant's individual pizza packs 2,310 calories and 4,920 mg of sodium? And so what if that single slice with 960 calories is also served up with 42 g of fat and 3,200 mg of sodium?
Okay, the numbers do make you cringe. It probably won't make me give up my pizza addiction, but it does open my eyes to the need for moderation - and it will serve as motivation to not let up on my workouts if I'm picking up more than a day's worth of calories in one sitting!
