Why I'll Always Love The Royals...PIC INCLUDED!

You know, some sports fans are fair weather fans, they only like their team when the team is winning. Then there are the diehard fans that love their team no matter what and will defend the team to the end. I'm somewhere in the middle with the Kansas City Royals because they aren't just a team to me, they're a part of growing up in KC!

Maybe since my growing up in KC and going to Royals games consists of the last fifteen years or so, I never really cared if the Royals won or lost. I just loved the games! From the lemonade guy screaming "LEE-MO-NADE, LEE-MO-NADE, LEEEEEEEEEEE-MO-NADE!" to posing for pictures with Slugger to running wildly down the winding exit ramps from the nosebleed seats, I've created lots of great memories with family and friends.

Royals games mean:

Summer, chocolate frosty malts, catching fly balls, REALLY expensive diet cokes, peanuts, begging my parents for a twenty dollar tee-shirt when I was a kidlet, getting an AMAZING Carlos Beltran bobble head doll, getting an UNAMAZING sunburn with a shorts line on my legs, trying but never catching a hot dog from the hot dog gun that shoots in the stands, seeing George Brett get a hair cut at my old hair place, and a million other great things.  So whenever they win or lose, I'll always love my Royals. As I write this, they are out of last place by one game!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Share your Royals memories!!!  Here's a pic of me and some of my best friends enjoying a night at the K last week...

Like I always say even a bad day at the ball park is better than a good day at work. By the way the Lemonade guy is selling out at the T-Bones now. Apparently he and his brother made so much money selling LEEEEE_MO_NADE that they were able to invest in there own consession business and they have a couple of lemonade franchises all in various parts of the country. He told me that they just follow the warm weather. Go Royals could 1985 be that long ago. HAve a good day. By the way I enjoyed saying hi to you at the Library a few weeks ago when you came for story time. DC ---------------- Thanks, I loved story time, how fun! It was nice to feel 5 years old for a while again. I had heard that about the Lemonade guys. I also heard they are built in to a baseball video game when you pick your players to play at Kauffman. Love it! LS

Posted by: rb I always liked the royals though i must admit there was a time this year i wanted to send my hat back to them and resign as a fan .

Posted by: Chelsey I got my "first crush" on a church trip to a Royals game! Ha! I agree, Royals games are always fun-win or lose!

My fondest memory is the 1985 World Series. The Royals trailed St. Louis by a 3-1 count in games and came storming back to win Game 7 and the World Series title!! I loved that team and always will. :) --------------Ah the stories I hear from that!!!!! I'm gonna age myself but I wish I could have been old enough to remember! ;) LS

I have always been a Royals Fan. I love going to Kaufman Stadium no matter what time of year, or how the team is doing or the what seat that I get. I remember going to a game with my Little League Baseball Team and getting recognized on the scoreboard with our name and record that year. I used to go to a Royals game every year and sometimes more than one, but now especially with gas prices and a 3 hour drive its hard to find time and it isn't as cheap as it was. I am though going to break down and go to a game this summer. Thanks for the topic and the trip down memory lane. -----------------Well I hope you do, it made it truly feel like summer for me when I went last week :) thanks for writing! LS
