Oh you aren’t going to believe this guys!
The Forecast Contest was for snow amount by Midnight Friday Night.
At 2:50PM on Wednesday… I forecast 8.7” inches of snow at Billard Airport in Topeka for Thursday/Friday event. The actual value was 8.8”.
This final total included 4.7” on Thursday before Midnight & 4.1” on Friday before Midnight.
I honestly can’t believe I was that close. And… I will admit that I did drop the range to 3-6” after my initial call of 4-8”(not patting myself on back, believe me). But the contest was to give a shot at the final total to fall before the end of Friday… before the flakes began. Soooo… I did OK.
I took your guesses on my Facebook page…. As well as the SkyWatch 13 Weather Team Facebook page… and my blog page on WIBW.com
But, I wasn’t the closest! Ohhhhh no. In the spirit of The Price Is Right… somebody bid one point higher than me.
This was the only person to get the Forecast Snowfall before Midnight Friday night… exactly right.

My guess is 8.8" It's like "The Price is Right" when they go 1 cent above the previous bid.
Verify it here if you like.
Yes… my friends… I must now live with the fact that JB Bauersfeld, our Sports Director… “outforecasted” me on this storm. Mr Bauersfeld is to be recognized as “greatest forecaster in the entire world... for the moment”. That was the contest.
Also… an honorable mention must go to

Measurements are only in tenths… so if we “round up”… this would be 8.8”.
Great work Patti!
I had almost 300 guesses from viewers at this snowfall. This has been a lot of fun, and I hope you all enjoyed it as well. If the popularity continues with this, I will keep it up. Maybe I can get a real prize for us? Hmmmmmmmmm… I’m thinking FOOD!!!
Thanks again… and congratulations JB.
