Temperatures dropped below freezing on the morning of April 7. Thinking back just a week... some parts of kansas had 1 to 2 feet of snow at the end of March... in one storm. For those who asked me "is winter over" when we saw readings chase and even break 80 in February... we can still get cold late into the spring. It has actually snowed in Kansas as late as early May.
The wild part about spring... is that temperatures can swing WILDLY, and vary a great deal. "Warm" one week... can follow up with extreme cold. The record High for April 7 is 89 degrees... and the record low is 23.
This link shows the average "last freeze" dates in Kansas... as well as the average "first freeze"
