In 1982... my family was evacuated on Christmas Eve. A levee along Black River had failed on the south side of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Over the past few days many of the same areas that stayed dry for 25 years were once again covered in water. The first map shows rainfall totals from Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. The second picture is Black River out of it's banks. I used to swim in that thing. Yummy! You can see the "normal" track of the river on the top of the picture. And... the third picture is of Current River. Current River is a great place for tubing. There is a shop that will rents tubes... and gives you a ride upstream. What a relaxing trip... to just tube... for hours. Just don't try tubing it right now. I have made contact with most of the family. Everybody seems to be OK.
