So I'm back from the Caribbean, and I see that the weather here isn't so great. Low 50's and rainy is a long ways away from the sun and fun of Jamaica. I spent 5 days in Negril with some of my best friends in order to stand by my good buddy Mike Marusarz as he married the gorgeous Rhi Alberson (or Rhiannon Ally as most of you know her).
It was an absolute blast, and the only complains I would have are that it was too short, and that it happened in the middle of football season. The weather was great, the water was warm, and the company was amazing. 22 total people traveled to the island, but the core group I spent most of my time with are buddies from Topeka TV's past. Mark Davidson was the weekend sports anchor before I took over for him, Mike Marusarz was a reporter and weekend anchor before heading to KC, and Nick Griffith was the sports director across town before joining Mike in Kansas City. Throw in a couple former Channel 13 producers (Morgan Smith, Paige Heyward, and Laura Phillips), sprinkle in Mike best man Chris Rhoad, and a dash of Caribbean Rum with various other players, and I'd say you have a recipe for a great time.
We did all kinds of fun stuff: Cliff jumping, SCUBA diving, Beach Volleyball, lounging on the beach, Tennis, and countless hours solving the problems of the world. I couldn't think of a better group to spend time and drink Humming Birds with. Here are some pictures from the trip.
