Best State Tournament?

While none of the spring sports carry the firepower and following that the Football, Basketball, and even Volleyball do, it's still a top notch time for sports fans. Other than girls swimming and boys tennis, every single spring sport held their championship last weekend.  Hummer Park in Topeka hosted 3 events, baseball, softball and soccer itself, but in addition to the two sports on the diamond and the one sport on the pitch, the coups de gras was the biggest event of it's kind in the United States.

All 6 classes converged on Cessna Stadium in Wichita for the State track and field meet.  Every class, 1 through 6A, crowned their champions in every individual event, as well as each relay, and team competition. I'd love to sit here and chime off every champion in every sport, but I don't like typing that much, so I'll spare you, er me.  But in terms of getting bang for your sports buck, there is no better event in the state of Kansas, where you can see so many top notch athletes in one area.

Which state tournament do you enjoy the most?

i may be off-topic here but i tuned in to the news sunday 6/29 at 5, and you reported spain winning vs. germany but the news that Filipino Manny "pacman" Pacquiao won the WBC Lightweight Championship with a KO over mexican David Diaz (Pacquiao's 4th championship in different weight classes, first Asian to do so). maybe reporting that would bring a different set of viewers to wibw13...my family and i watch 13news, but we'd love to hear more news about different sports involving different nationalities, i was quite surprised that Euro 2008 was on the news. thanks, and have a good day.

Response: Thanks for the request. Glad to hear about "Pac Man's" accomplishment.

I enjoy any state tournament where I can go and watch my nieces or nephew play ball. This year it was the girls 2-1A Softball tournament in Emporia. St.Marys Lady Bears were awesome. That is what my niece who pitched the championship game said and I agree with her. St.Marys Lady Bears have a "WISE" Coach!! JB, how was that energy drink I gave you? I'd like for you to e-mail me back with your comments, hope to hear from you soon.

J.B.'s Response: It was interesting for sure. A little different than I expected, but it did the trick.
