Sometimes I get these hare brained ideas when I'm not tired in the wee hours of the night. The following is one of those stories. The Wednesday night after the ice storm, I decided it would be a great idea to go take some pictures of random objects around town for no particular reason. The result is pretty breathtaking. You'll see that as with any tragic situation, beauty can come of it.
I was out for about 2 hours and took nearly 200 photos. Here is my night in pictures
I started out in my front yard. You can see the fallen branches behind the one in focus.
From there I went the the campus of Washburn University. Being the sports guy, I stopped off at the tennis courts and the football practice field. After that I headed over to one of my favorite statues in town and got some of my best shots of the night (after I almost broke my leg on the rocks).
After Washburn, I headed over to Crestview Park and took some shots of holes # 17 and 18 (with Christmas lights in the back).
This shot is from the VA Hostpital. It's a small flag with the big American Flag behind it (tough to see)
This shot is at 19th and Gage.
My final stop was Gage Park. I hit the mini-train crossing before going to Mt. Calvary Cemetary, where I got some of my best shots to date
After the somber feeling I got from walking around a freezing cold empty cemetary, I had to end it on an up note, so I finished up with the merry-go-round
