The huge Sunflower Showdown tonight between #2 KU and #5 K-State will not air in High Definition thanks to the Big 12 network living in the 1990s. News Flash Big 12 - This is 2010. High Definition broadcasts should be standard - especially for a game of this magnitude. So much is on the line tonight including Big 12 title implications as K-State can still earn a share of the Big 12 regular season title, seeding in the Big 12 tourney is still undecided, and both teams are legit candidates for #1 seeds in the upcoming NCAA Tourney and this game may go a long way in deciding that. But tonight, as millions of fans settle in to watch what may be the biggest and most important basketball game ever played between these two schools, standard definitions will be all she wrote. In my opinion, this is a huge travesty. WAKE UP BIG 12! You make millions of dollars on television contracts. Why not spend a little to upgrade your own broadcasts to HD??? Other conferences broadcast their network games in HD, but the Big 12 has decided it is not worth it and too expensive. Maybe it's time to start charging Phillips 66 more for their prime sponsorship.
In my opinion this is ridiculous!
