Last year, in Season 7 of American Idol, the winner was David Cook form the Kansas City area.  So American Idol decided to return to the Kansas City to see if there was any more talent in the area like Cook.  On last night's episode they aired the Kansas City auditions.  There were plenty of people that were horrendous ( which I think is funny b/c some of them actually think they are good) and others that were very good and got invited to "Hollywood" (which is the next round of auditions).  One of the contestants that impressed the Judges was a native of Wamego, Jessica Furney.  She did a great job, had a huge voice, and got approval from all 4 of the Judges.  Including an overwhelming approval from the always-hard-to-please Simon.   Simon said she was a "standout", called her a "natural", and said she was "a small town girl with big dreams."  Of course this was just one of many rounds Jessica will have to make it through, but just making it past this round is an accomplishment.  She made her family, town, and all Kansans proud.   It will be fun to watch over the next weeks and see just how far Jessica can go.  Dave Johnson suggested we become "Furney's Fanatics."  American Idol can be seen at Prime-time on Fox during the week.  The days and times tend to change from week to week.  Good Luck Jessica!

In showing the crowd outside there was also a girl from Haysville, or Havensville showing a card. Wish she, too, had been on so we could have seen if maybe we had two from Kansas to go to Hollywood!! Oh,well, we can't have it all. Just good luck to Jessica.
