On Friday night KU played the University of South Florida in a National Televised game on ESPN. The game was a great opportunity for KU and USF to make a little money and get some national exposure for a couple of programs that are looking to compete with the big dogs when it comes to recruiting. However, I do not like the idea of college games being played on Friday nights. I don't blame KU or USF for playing b/c when ESPN comes with a check in hand and the promise of a prime time game, you really can't turn it down. I place full blame on ESPN. They should not even put the college programs in that position. Friday Nights should be reserved for High School and High School only. I'm sure there were countless people that stayed at home to watch the college game rather than go and watch their local high school. There were also tons of people who are avid KU or USF fans and had to miss most of the game because they were at the local high school game. This also didn't help much with recruiting b/c the kids that KU and USF will be recruiting were playing at the same time. I like the college games during the week such as this Wednesday when KSU will play Lousiville on ESPN. Play on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday...but please, don't mess with Friday Night.
