Flying at Night....Amazing

Over the weekend I was at a weather conference in Las Vegas.  My flight left Vegas at 8:00pm on Sunday evening.  The sun had set and the Vegas strip was lit up as it always is.  The flight took off and circled the city and I happened to be on the side that was facing the strip.  This was an amazing view.  Then as we worked our way back to Kansas City there were some golf courses that were lit up and then there were some thunderstorms in the distance that were really cool to watch with the constant lightning flashes.  As started our approach into KCI I was able to pick out Topeka as we passed over.  I could clearly find the Wanamaker Road corridor, the Capital building and then the bridges of the Kansas River.  It was a very cool flight and if it was day time I'm not sure it would have been so entertaining.  My flight out there was during the day and they did fly us over the Grand Canyon which was also a cool sight to see from the air.

So what do you think?   What cool things have you seen from an airplane?
