Huge Hail South of Wichita

On Saturday morning some severe t-storms were rolling across portions of South Central and SE Kansas.  These storms were producing baseball and even softball size hail.  Our sister station KAKE out of Wichita sent me this picture of the Softball size hail.  You can see the measurement on the right of 4.25 inches.  That is some very large and dangerous hail that could certainly do some serious damage.  How would you like to awake to this...probably wouldn't be very pleasant.  This just shows the power of thunderstorms.  What do you think?

Drew, I'm spending my summer in a fifth wheel.Would that hail in the picture cause major damage to my temp. home??? I'm so glad yesterday's storms passed us by. We saw no hail where we were.

I was in southwest Wichita (Hwy 54 & Tyler) when this happened. I am just thankful that it did not bust out the windows in my car. There sure is a lot of dents on the car.

Yikes! That's pretty scary! My brother and sister-in-laws home was seriously damaged by hail this size about 16 years ago, in Wichita. Whenever I see hail like this, I think of the cattle out in fields that have no place to go to hide from it, or worse yet, the homeless who have no shelter. It's frightening.
