How 'bout those Royals!?!?!?!

As I sit here and write this blog out Kansas City Royals are have opened the 2008 baseball season with a series sweep of the Detroit Tigers.  The Tigers made some major off-season moves and are many "baseball experts" pick to win the World Series and our team of up and coming stars went in there and basically kicked some behind.  It was fun to watch this team play throughout the week.  The last time we started a season 3-0 was in 2003 when we started 9-0 and held a 6 game lead on our division at the All Star Break.  That season didn't end with us end the playoffs, but it was certainly an exciting summer.  Royals fans everywhere were in good spirits with lots of optimism.  Wouldn't it be great if this summer brought the same kind of excitement about Royals baseball.  Now it is no secret that we have a young team that is unlikely to fight for a playoff spot come September.  However, this squad showed some great signs of good things to come.  There is certainly reason to hope if you are a Royals fan.  I'm more excited for the baseball season than I have been in a long time.  Maybe it is partly because the Chiefs aren't showing many signs of improving.  Who knows what the Royals can do this year.  If they can stay in it through most of the summer and give us a ride like we had in 2003, the future is looking more than brights and you have to expect an improvement in 2009 and 2010.

What are your thoughts about the boys in blue?  Was the first series of the year a fluke or are we in for a 2003 like ride...or even better a 1985 style journey???  Its fun to dream...

What is the pint of a 8 day forecast when you can't even predict the next day????

The Royals..yeah there is hope. A good start so far going 4-2 on the road. But like the other person said let's not reserve those playoff tickets just yet. On a different note, the "other" boys in blue just won a national championship!!! I know, not something Tigers want to hear about. Oh well, football season is only 5 months away ;)

I think the Royals have a great chance of being more successful this season. I'll always support and be a fan even if they have a bad season like last year. A true fan sticks with a team even when they are down. Winning the game vs. the Detroit Tigers is definitely showing how they have improved! GO ROYALS!

Thnaks for the interest in the Royals. They are getting better, look for them to make some more strides towards respectability this year. 75 wins with an outside shot at finishing 500 would satisfy me.

Posted by: Sara Im just hoping something will be better than last year but I would hold off on buying those play-off tickets

RESPONSE FROM DREW: Well they have now lost 2 in a row, but I'm still staying on the band-wagon.

It is not a fluke. The Royals have many new faces this season...This will be the year for another turn around....what a great start...Keep it going....GO ROYALS

RESPONSE FROM DREW: Love the optimism!!!
