I will have the pleasure of attending the Big 12 men's basketball Tourney this weekend, and I couldn't be more excited. The four day event begins tomorrow at 11:30am and runs through Sunday when the Championship game is played. Now the tournament itself will be a blast, but I am also looking forward to checking out all the fan interactive activities they will have in downtown Kansas City. The new Power and Light District is open and ready to go and there will also be other special tents set up to watch the games and listen to live music between games. Kansas City lost it's permanent hold on the tourney a few years ago when the Big 12 administrators felt that the old Kemper Arena was a little out of date. This years Big 12 tourney will be played at the brand new Sprint Center in the middle of downtown Kansas City. This new arena is amazing, I have been there 3 times already for games and concerts. Combine this new arena with the up and coming downtown area, and KC may once again become the permanent home of the conference tourney.
