Earlier this afternoon (Sunday), I was flipping through the channels on my TV and came across a baseball game. The game was on Chicago's WGN, and wouldn't ya know that the game was the Cubs vs. Royals. I stopped flipping and watched the game for a little while. It was nice to hear names that I hadn't really heard since last summer. The boys and blue didn't have their best outing of the spring, in-fact it may have been their worst. They ended up losing 13-1. But hey, it's only spring training. The regular season is just around the corner, March 31st is the Royals opening game. It will be here before we know it and there is reason to be optimistic. The boys in blue are playing .500 baseball this Spring under the direction of our new manager, Try Hillman. All of our young players are a year older, and it would only take a breakout year from a few of those players to make the Royals a contender. Of course, it is also possible for the Royals to take a step backwards.
Last year the Royals were 69-93. What do you think they will do this year???
I am picking the Royals to improve over last year but I think we are probably still a couple years away from competing for the playoffs. Especially with the American League Central Division being the toughest division in baseball. My prediction...80-82.
