On Saturday, February 2nd 2008 Punxsutawney Phil made his 120th annual prediction on whether or not we will have an early spring or six more weeks of winter. At 6:25AM EST (daybreak in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania) Phil emerged from his winter nap and proclaimed..."As I look around me, a bright sky I see, and a shadow beside me. Six more weeks of winter it will be."
So there you have it, according to Punzsutawney Phil we will have 6 more weeks of winter weather. No matter what the rodent says or what you believe, spring officially begins on March 20th. We will have to see if Phil's prediction is true.
I found it odd that it was cloudy in Pennsylvania today, however, they still say he saw his shadow. I guess they pull him out of the hole now and then he "whispers" something to his keeper. It really doesn't depend on the weather.
What do you think about groundhog day. I think it is fun to have a day and a festival to look foreword to spring but obviously the prediction has no bearing on our upcoming weather.
