One of my favorite parts of the morning show is when I get to read the school lunch menus for the day. I like to add my own special twists to it and comment on some of the food. I consider myself a man who likes to eat and I am surprised when I run across something that I have yet to try. However, there were two times this week when I didn't have a clue what a food item was. Lucky for me the viewers were listening and sent me emails with descriptions of the foods I was confused about and where I could get them. On Thursday, there was a food item called "crispitos." I had never heard this term before, but thanks to the emails I received I now know they are just another term for "taquitos", or very similar. Then on Friday, one school was having "manwiches" for lunch. Again, a term I had never heard. Again my email filled up with people telling me they were sloppy joes. Now I have had hundreds of sloppy joes in my life but never heard the term "manwich." I guess you learn something new everyday.
So those are two food items that have at least two different names. What are some other foods that would fall into that category? I can only think of crisps and chips are chips and fries respectively in England.
