Even though the Chiefs have been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs for several weeks now and have shown no signs of improvement, I still continue to settle into my recliner for 3 hours every Sunday to watch what is approaching a 3-hour comedy show. The season finale, which was originally supposed to air on NBC during prime-time but was "flexed" by the NFL, pitted 2 playoff teams from 2006 but two teams which would only combine for a total of 8 wins in 2007. The game brought no excitement as punt after punt resulted in a 10-10 tie going into overtime. A jets field goal handed the Chiefs their 9Th loss in a row...we did not win a game after Halloween. The game yesterday was awful. I lost count at 14 combined punts...possibly more than the Patriots had all year. Does anyone know the record for punts in a game? I would say the Chiefs and the Jets were not far off the record. All in all it was a fitting end to a horrible year. This final game only cemented my thoughts that Clark Hunt needs to part ways with Carl Peterson, and our first two draft picks need to be used on Offensive Linemen. Croyle may be OK but there is no way of knowing when he is constantly under pressure. The best part about this season is that it is over. The good news about the NFL is that, unlike baseball, it is set up so that any team can get good players and become good. It may take a few years to be a year in and year out playoff team again but hopefully this is the worst season we will see for another 20 years.
What are your thoughts on our KC Chiefs as we end 2007 and look towards 2008?
