ONE MONTH'S GAS -- FREE!

These 10 tried and true methods will slash your car's fuel consumption. And in just one year you'll have saved the equivalent of a month's worth of gasoline:

  1. Use your air conditioner as little as possible. And never run it with the windows partially down.
  2. Keep your car tuned up regularly.
  3. Make sure your car is aligned.
  4. Rotate the tires every 5,000 miles.
  5. Get rid of unnecessary stuff in your trunk. The lighter the load, the better the gas mileage.
  6. Make sure your tires are properly inflated.
  7. Park in the shade. The sun's heart evaporates the gas in your tank.
  8. Avoid jackrabbit starts from a dead stop.
  9. Some grocery stores offer customer-loyalty vouchers good for free gas across the country. Ask if yours does.
  10. Avoid traffic jams whenever possible. Idling engines waste gas. Perhaps you can change your working hours from 9 to 5 to 10 to 6 or 8 to 4.

Dave, this has nothing to do with the topic at hand, but I thought if anyone would know, you would. I watched the reality show 'The Cougar" but missed the last episode. Do you know who she picked-Jimmy or ? I forgot his name. Thanks.

DAVE RESPONSE: HA! Sorry but that's one reality show that I've not even heard of. E-mail me at dave.johnson@wibw.com and let me know what network that's on if you happen to see this response. Thanks! Dave J.

Or in your case, from 4am until 1Pm. There cant be any traffic at that hour. So the next time you wake up to go to work just think about how fuel you Drew, and Amanda are saving....
