 With Monday's announcement that Jon and Kate (of Jon & Kate Plus Eight fame) are getting a divorce, and that their show is going on a hiatus, the big question is, should the show go on? I was fine with the kids being filmed, after all, the kids are cute and I thought the show was harmless. Now it seems fame got to the family, and ultimately tore them apart. That isn't why I think the show should go off the air. Afterall, the adults in the family chose their path and now we see where it ended up. BUT, the kids don't need cameras in their faces as they cope with their parents' divorce. They deserve some privacy, and it would be exploitative to continue shooting the show. What do you think? |

I'm with you,cameras in their lives is not something any of them need now. I was never sure that they should've been there on a daily basis anyway. How would any of us like cameras following our every move? Yuk!!! Sure, it was the parents' decision, and they did it for the money,but surely given a little time the money need could've been satisfied another less intrusive way?! Posted by: Anonymous I've watched the show since the beginning and I think the problems between Kate and John were there all along. He was more immature and she seemed to treat him like a child or worse. Sorry to see this happen to a family and wish they had gone to a good counselor and worked things out before they ended the marriage. I hope they put money away so they have funds to support their family now and in the future as the show's popularity will suffer. Surely they have made a good amount of money already, but if they are sure there is no hope for the marriage then why not keep the show going for the money, after all it cost alot to send 8 kids thru college. I feel very sorry for these kids to have to grow up with cameras in their faces and the paparizzi now. Posted by: Pam Location: Topeka Here's reality - Jon and Kate have been separated for a long time. But the filing and all this about them getting a divorce was in the making way back. Some reality there. I think they should do away with reality shows because they are filmed ahead just like all the other sitcoms months in advance and what you think is happening happened quite a while back. Heard these Survivor shows are fake too. Like the one person who said that was on the show they are not left on the island over night due to animals, bugs, etc. & an ocean liner is over the horizon & they take them off the island at night & feed & sleep on board then taken to the island where they roll around in mud & dirt so it looks like they are still been on the island overnite. Wake up America! We are so gullible! I feel sorry for the eight little ones more than the adults. Take the show off and never put it back on for the children's sake. Enough is enough! |
