Will Ferrell's latest comedy romp actually lives up to its premise, unlike recent flicks such as "Semi-Pro." That one was a way-too-serious attempt at a cliched sports movie that ultimately fell flat (and left me, a die-hard NBA fan, disappointed). "Step Brothers" belongs up there with Ferrell's best movies, including "Anchorman" and "Old School."

You know what you're getting -- Ferrell (and Talladega Nights buddy John C. Reilly) playing an innocent, simple-minded 40-ish idiot, who also happens to have a foul mouth. This describes most of his movies, but this one really hit the mark. Perhaps because both brothers being stuck in arrested development (one due to divorce, one due to a lost parent) actually seems plausible.

The hate-love-hate-love relationship that continues to change throughout the movie really works, and what Ferrell does to Reilly's drum set has to be seen (or perhaps should never be seen! Ick!). The "Sweet Child o' Mine" car sing-a-long by Ferrell's older, more successful jerk of a brother is priceless -- and strange.

I really enjoyed this flick...but be forewarned! It is immature, and very gross. It is also full of foul language. Regardless, it is a funny movie -- and should have you rolling in your seats!

BQ, I agree with you. Normally I'm not a big Will Ferrell fan, but this was a great movie. I still think the Dark Knight is the greatest movie ever.
