I watched "Iron Man," looking forward to BIG movie summer!!!!

It took me an entire weekend to convince my wife to watch "Iron Man" with me, and we finally went and watched it last Sunday evening. I was surprised by how packed the theater was for a Sunday 7:15 showing -- but was more surprised how blown away I was by the flick!

The best part of the movie was not the action sequences -- far from it -- it was the sense of humor. Robert Downey Jr. was hilarious in the title role. Don't take this review the wrong way, it is not a comedy. But it did make me -- and the entire audience -- laugh out loud several times.

Here's my biggest recommendation -- after saying she thought it looked terrible -- Sara really enjoyed it! So there!

It was the perfect way to kick off a summer movie extravaganza! Here are the flicks I'm really ready to see -- I can't wait!

The Dark Knight -- I was a huge fan of the original, Batman Begins, and this one looks fantastic as well. Heath Ledger's final completed performance looks like a doozy, a really terrifying portrayal. This is my most anticipated movie of the summer.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull -- That's a heck of a long title, but I'm pumped none-the-less. I really hope they can match the quality of the previous two sequels, but I'm ready for some classic Indy adventure. Don't let me down, Speilberg, Lucas & Ford!

X-Files 2 -- When the series was at its best, it was a really enthralling and creepy experience. When it was at its worst, it could be really silly instead of scary. Here's hoping this feature film can match the best episodes of the series.

Those are just a few -- which flicks are you salivating over?

Posted by: RS What happened to creativity in Hollywood? Can they not come up with anything original anymore? I've pretty well quit going to the theater because of the prices, I'll either rent the released versions or buy the DVD if I want to see something most of the time. I sure won't be going and paying them to watch remakes, cartoon adaptations, and sequels. ********************BQ: To an extent, I agree with you. But unfortunately, most of the "new" attempts at franchises pale in comparison to the classic series. The Mummy vs. Indiana Jones? Give me Indy. Etc...Plus, with the prices of gas, tickets, etc being so high, film makers are making flicks guaranteed to bring in audiences -- and characters audiences want to see again and again. Plus, I don't have a problem with certain movies if it is a new, original take, as "Dark Knight" appears to be. But to your point, creativity in Hollywood seems to be getting more infrequent every summer...how about something fresh?

BQ, I agree on the Dark Knight. It looks great and I hope if there is a third movie that Chris Nolan directs it again. He finally got the Batman franchise on track. ****BQ: I concur.

I just saw Iron Man and I was extremely Impressed. I don't know if I'm going to see The Dark Knight or not after seeing the trailer I did not like how they portray the Joker I just have this image of how the Joker should be and I didn't see it in the trailer so I personally don't have high expectations for the movie myself, I'll probably enjoy it though. Its set for release on August 15th but I also want to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars the animated Star Wars movie***BQ you can even see it earlier -- it comes out in mid-July.
