With Wednesday's firing of Mike Leach, that now makes two Big 12 Football Coaches terminated, or bought out, since the end of the season, both because of alleged mistreatment of players. The circumstances of the two are different, but if you have not been following, KU's Mark Mangino was said to have verbally abused players and placed his hands on one. Texas Tech's Mike Leach was said to have locked a player in a dark shed for 3 hours, after said player complained that he could not practice in the sun because he was suffering from post concussion symptoms.

I have little tolerance for abusing players, but where do we draw the line? After all, it's football, and the traditions of the game dictate tough love. Just watch Remember the Titans, a Disney movie about a high school team. Good Old Denzel Washington would probably be fired after that one.

But in all honesty, do you think it's about the treatment of players, or about the money? Both Leach and Mangino were making over $2.5 million a year. And both were at or near the top of their school's all-time wins lists. So clearly, it was not all about winning, despite Mangino's poor 2009.

I really do not know where to come down on this. All I do know is that the Raiders' fans are almost entirely against Leach's firing (He was 12-1 in 2008, 8-4 in 2009) while KU fans were more split (Mangino slipped to 5-7 this year). Is that because of salary, record or the treatment of players?
