I have been having some heated discussion with the esteemed colleagues of mine in the sports department about the state of the Chiefs. I point out how bad they are and though they have had a reasonable shot to win each of their first two games, it is deceptive. They say I am too hard on them, but I think they have their "homer" blinders on.
Two plays come to mind from Sunday's game against Oakland. And the end of the first half the Chiefs have a chance to get 3 points, which is a lot in a game of Sunday's nature, but they elect to go for 7, don't get out of bounds and not only lose out of a touchdown but also on a field goal.
Secondly, in the third quarter, five Chiefs players had a chance to down a punt at the one yard line of Oakland, but no one did. They all just sat and stared. I would go on, but the bottom line is, I see a bad football team that make mistakes, is not coached well and is in trouble. Their next six games are
At Philly
Giants
Cowboys
at Redskins
Chargers
Bye
I am really concerned they will lose all five of those and be 0-7 as they enter the bye week. I hope this is not the case. So, am I being unreasonable and missing the point, or is this team in trouble?
