Wolverine - First Look

So I busted out the nerd side, and I went to the Midnight screening of X-Men Origins, Wolverine on Thursday night... and ... it .. was... AWESOME.

I really enjoyed the storytelling, as the movie chronicles Logan as he grows up and gets involved with the U.S. military through several wars, and then with a special project with Co. Stryker. (Despite the fact that Wolverine ages to a certain point, but somehow stays at the same ages for over a hundred years).

Hugh Jackman was once again great as Wolverine. It is really going to go down as an iconic character in American cinema. The movie does a good job of defining what makes Wolverine such an engaging charachter, the never-ending balance of good versus evil, of being an "animal" versus being a human. It's the struggle that makes the comic book genre so appealing, and this movie really pulls it off well.

I also enjoyed the other characters like Sabretooth, played admirably by Liev Schreiber, Deadpool, played by the shredded Ryan Reynolds as well as Gambit, Bolt and the Blob. Will.I.Am. is just terrible in the movie and I have no idea how he got cast, but I digress.

I had a few beleiveabiility problems with the movie, but that is a given with a comic book flick. There are too glaring to be ignored, but I will not get into them to spoil the movie for you.

Anyhow I definitely recommend this movie, and it is on par with the other 3 X-Men movies.
