I've always heard how great the atmosphere is at a home KU basketball game and decided it was something I needed to experience. Monday, I went for the first time to Phog Allen Fieldhouse for the men's game against Texas A&M. 13's own sports gurus, Matt Blanchette and Tanner Knowland, accompanied my big-time sports fan friend, Shelby, and I to the game.
The fan participation and video shown just before the game are amazing! Definitely a great experience. Cherries on top: got a free t-shirt and KU won. :)
Before the game we went to 23rd Street Brewery for dinner. The Royals Caravan showed up so we snapped a picture with Sluggerrr!
As one of the guys said, it's almost like there is no bad seat in the Fieldhouse.
We made Matt and Tanner put on their free t-shirts because they weren't sporting any KU paraphernalia :). Guess they wanted to remain neutral for K-State fans, but KU played A&M... so the t-shirt doesn't mean anyone's taking sides; they have equal love for both teams.
Shelby and I in the great lobby at Fieldhouse; full of so much history!
What's the best home game - any sport - you've experienced?
