Well whoever thinks up the poll questions and possible answers for ESPN's web site apparently doesn't think the Big 12 has any strength whatsoever. Yesterday's Poll questions, which was off course featured on Sportscenter with final results, ask the question "Who has the best basketball conference in the nation." The ACC, The Pac-10, and the Big East, were all included for possible answers, and while I can't remember off the top of my head what the other two conferences were that were listed, I'm guessing the SEC was one of them, I do know that the Big 12 was not among the possible answers for the list, because when I saw it I couldn't believe it.
A little disrespectful I think, I mean last time I checked the Big 12's conference RPI was #2 in the nation. Last time I checked Kansas and Texas were in the top 10 in both top 25 polls; with Texas A&M and Kansas State all making Top 25 appearances throughout the year. Last time I check Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma were all in the top 25 when it comes to their respective RPI's. Texas at #5 Kansas at #8 and Oklahoma at #24. And last time I checked the Big 12 had 6 teams in the conference with 20 or more wins. Texas-26, Kansas-28, Kansas State-20, Baylor-21, Oklahoma-21 and Texas A&M-22. Keep in mind The conference tournament isn't over and all those teams have a chance to improve with more wins. Even ESPN's own resident Brackatologist-Joe Lunardi has 6 teams in his mock field of 64-Kansas, Texas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Baylor. Which of course isn't a done deal by any means we will gave to wait until selection Sunday. But with all that said in some people's eyes the Big 12 apparently hasn't gained enough respect to even be included as one of the top conferences in the nation...Maybe those who think that should open their eyes.
