I've had an interest in broadcasting since I was about 6 years old. I remember watching the morning news before going to school and wondering how newscasts were put together. I thought I wanted to be a meteorologist and a reporter. So I went to Penn State University and studied both meteorology and communications. After my first semester, and a few tough classes, I changed paths. I decided to study finance, despite still having a thirst to become a tv news reporter. I even spent more than a year working in the financial services industry.
While working in corporate finance, I attended Point Park University in Pittsburgh and recieved an M.A. in Mass Communications and Journalism. During my time at Point Park, I interned at KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh. After my internship was over, I started to work at KDKA, as a part of CBS' apprenticeship program. I got the oppurtunity to produce newscasts the noon newscast and the 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts on KDKA's sister station. Working on the morning news after election night and the Steelers 2009 Super Bowl victory are two memorable moments.
After working at KDKA, I started to look for employment and that's what brought me to Topeka. I am extremly excited to be here and look forward to contributing to a great newsteam.
Currently, I reside in downtown and am enjoying it very much. If you see me, feel free to say hello. Also, drop me any story ideas and suggestions for great sushi places, a good golf course or other things I should do in my spare time.
