All aboard!! That's what many were saying at the great overland station Saturday.
The Topeka railroad festival kicked off at 10 Saturday morning till 10 at night.
They held the new Topeka Railroad Festival to celebrate the railroad heritage of Topeka.
With music, vendors, model railroads and of course trains....a place like this is heaven for kids and adults alike.

The first time I stepped on Kansas grounds was in December 1962 when arriving at the railroad station. I was just out of the Air Force boot camp and tech school and was to check in the next day at Forbes Air Force base where I was stationed for over 3 years. I remember walking from the train station up to downtown Topeka and checked into a hotel that night and checked in at Forbes the next day. As I recall it was cold and I believe there was snow on the ground.
