Three recent Topeka murder victims may share connections. Two are related, and another died just blocks away from one of the victims.

17-year-old Farrell Sanders was killed Thursday morning, blocks from where 25-year-old David Wakes died last Sunday. He is related to 24-year-old Michael Holley, who was killed earlier this year.

The Sanders family says there was no connection between Sanders death and the other two, while the Holley family says the three men knew each other and believes there is a connection.

Regardless, the Sanders family will miss Farrell. Click the video for their reaction.

If you have any information, call police at 234-0007. The Sanders family has a fund set up at New Century Credit Union at 707 Quincy.

amazing the killings slowed down since byrd and travis are not hand in hand. everyone knows who the killers are come on now. DUH

Posted by: jackie Location: arkansas on May 23, 2008 at 02:13 PM
just a suggestion to the families, when ontario johnson was killed, the same suspects name came up, same as marquis brown, mike holley, david wakes, and farell sanders. i think it is clear that the "travis Gardenhire" is the shooter. so if topeka police is not going to do anything, try gettin F.B.I INVOLVED, GO TO NATIONAL NEWS!!!! this is an obvious serial murderer, and no one is safe. so try to get higher offials involved. get that monster off the streets.

Is there a connection? Please, we are not stupid. Of course there's a connection! Farrell was the innocent "collateral damage" in a war being fought on the streets. The only end to this senseless violence is an end to the senseless silence.

its just really sad to see so many murders already in a city this size and yet the cops are unable to solve anything, I mean what is the woeld coming too when people are shot in the middle of the afternoon and yet still no suspects....thats hard

i didnt know farrell that well man but i know he was real real cool its crazy how such a young person could get killed for no reason even though i didnt know him that well it hurts when i see his pictures everywhereand it show how muche he was loved

i beleive that the people of this city could do a better job that those that are paid to do so......

Posted by: annoyed on May 5, 2008 at 09:11 AM
So if TPD isn't doing there job and you think you could do better then hop to and solve all the crime in Topeka for us!

Why do people think it is nice to come on these sites and blame the parents of a young man that is DEAD. It does not matter that he was out at that time he was too young to be murder and his mother is mourning here son. If these was your son you would not want people to be rude to you so stop BASHING the mother and SHOW some respect.

Posted by: Jeremy Location: Topeka on May 4, 2008 at 06:15 PM
To those that say that TPD is doing their job, what is their job sending 4 of duty officers to a party to ask them to be quiet and now we have two people, whom the cops are to be protecting, with hospital bills and a life long problem now, so NO I can't say that TPD is doing their job, look at the books and see what crimes are reported, what are investagated, what are solved and tell me by the numbers that they are doing their job, you will be surprised....

Posted by: Jeremy Location: Topeka on May 4, 2008 at 06:06 PM
I didn't say blame the police for him doing what he was doing, but had they brought out dogs at the word of gun fire, the body would have been found sooner and maybe he had lived, but they couldn't do that right and had to be called out a second time. The police department in this city is the worse I have never seen when it comes to helpiong the public and solving crimes. Crime rate in Topeka is down, you want to know why becase 90% of reported crimes don't never make it to the dectives whose job it is to solve the crime, therefore it makes our crime rate LOOk lower but it really isn't...this city is SAD.....

Don't blame the TPD for allowing a 17 y/o to hang out at a freinds grandmas porch after midnight. Blame the parents.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 4, 2008 at 07:09 AM
To Jeremy-Have you ever thought that the Police Dept IS doing their job, it's just not posted in the news every 3 seconds...just b/c the public doesn't hear about it, doesn't mean that nothing is getting done.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 4, 2008 at 04:22 AM
Jeremy, the fact is the police aren't responsible for him being out at 2:00 a.m., his parents are.

Posted by: Jeremy Location: Topeka on May 3, 2008 at 01:24 PM
I would like to know when the Topeka Police department will learn to do the job that they have been given? The Topeka Police deparment can't solve crimes if you hand them the person who committed the crime. I think that we will see alot more problems on our hands before the year is over with the police department that we have.

I just wanted to say that i am so sorry for the loss of your son....i know how that feels losing the loved ones, you are not alone, God is with you always....God Bless you and your family!

Posted by: Jim on May 3, 2008 at 11:52 AM
Being at the "wrong place at the wrong time" is not relevant here. If you read the newpaper article you will see this young man strayed to the "wrong" crowd. This from his mother. Why a 17 year old is on the porch of a friends grandmothers after midnight is inexcusable.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Topeka on May 3, 2008 at 08:07 AM
I just wanted to say I'm sorry for the lost of your son. Your family and Farrell will be in are prayers. GOD Bless you all.

Regardless if there is a connection, there is a rabid person or persons running around killing for the thrill of it. Chances they have previously served time for some other violent act they commited and feel that they can get away with these shootings.
