Topeka, KS (WIBW) - Raubin Pierce still has his seat behind the microphone, but he won't fill a seat on the Topeka Planning Commission.
The Topeka City Council voted 5-4 Tuesday night against appointing the radio talk show host to the Topeka Planning Commission.
The vote came in two steps. First, voting against his appointment. Then, approving a resolution that declared him unfit and unqualified to serve. Such a resolution is required when an appointment is denied.
Both votes were 5-4. Jeff Preisner, who sponsored the resolution to declare Pierce unfit, joined with Karen Hiller, Deborah Swank, Larry Wolgast and Jack Woefel in the positions denying the appointment.
John Alcala, Sylvia Ortiz, Bob Archer and Richard Harmon voted in favor of Pierce's appointment.
Discussion before the vote centered on what constitutes declaring someone "unfit." Assistant City Attorney Braxton Copely said the statute only requires the finding be made, not that an explanation be given for the finding.
Alcala asked Preisner directly to say why he felt Pierce was unfit. Preisner said Alcala could direct the question to the legal division, but he would not answer the question.
Pierce hosts the talk show "On the Other Hand" with Megan Mosack on AM 580 WIBW. The pair often are critical of city government.
On his Twitter account following the vote, Pierce called it, "a loss for the people of Topeka, who dare to hold their government accountable."

Wolf man, laughed at your post...You thank God and in the same sentence call Pierce just another born again right wing wacko. Lol. As usual, you as a moral-less, value-less, "tolerant" liberal show your true colors through what else...name calling. You as a liberal are not tolerant of others but claim to be the "heroes of tolerance", have no sense of morality/values if they are good for others but have no perceived direct value to you, so to you a moral value to others is nothing more than "intolerance". It’s a double standard that is good for you. You cannot defend your position with factual, substantuative evidence so as usual resort to name calling. You claim to be a "big boy" but bet you'd cry to your mama if you were really put to the test. You think you’re unstoppable in a group but shiver in fear when left alone, much like a bully. That’s why the “wolf man” rather than your name. We are in the same boat though; too bad you and your type are causing it to sink!
HAHAHA Pierce got what he deserved.....he was heald accountable for his past actions. Hes all talk and NO show. Anyone who would support this dork is a fool. I found it curious that the only support he received was from the people who frequent his show which seem to be the ones he NEVER slams or makes stupid comments about....hummmm.
This sounds like Obama vs. Fox News. What happen to the first Amendment?
