Not only is the Topeka Civic Theatre the only community dinner theatre in the country, the artistic director says its quality surpasses big cities.
Shannon Reilly, artistic director of the TCT, says when he came from Kansas City, he never expected to stay in Topeka to do theatre. "But the talent pool is enormous," says Reilly.
He also says working with amateur actors is a joy. "Amateur means 'for the love of' so there is a passion in what they do."
Before most shows, guests can enjoy a delicious dinner inside the large theatre with amazing seating. Every seat is a great one with drink and desert service throughout the productions.
With a main stage and a studio, Reilly says there are only a few Friday nights a year that both stages are empty.
Through March, you can catch Cabaret on the main stage. For a listing of the rest of the 2007 - 2008 season or to see the view from any seat in the theatre, go to their website.
